Each year, fifth- through eighth-grade students participate in the American Mathematics Competition 8 (AMC 8). If students perform well on the AMC 8, they are invited to take the high school-level AMC 10 exam. Seventh-grader Sidharth M. (Berryessa, CA) performed well on the AMC 8 in 2024, and his exceptional performance on the AMC 10 earned him a Certificate of Distinction, which qualified him to compete in the 2025 American Invitational Mathematics Exam, or AIME. The AIME is an invitation-only three-hour exam with questions considerably more challenging than those found on the AMC 10.
