Challenger School seeks an enthusiastic individual to teach music at the elementary (third through eighth grade) level. Challenger’s music curriculum specifically aims to teach students to not just memorize songs and dances but to fully understand music concepts. At Challenger, teachers not only educate students but also assist them in becoming self-reliant and productive individuals who value independence and individuality and find joy and self-worth through achievement.

Music teachers are responsible for

  • learning and properly delivering Challenger’s music curriculum and methodology, which includes concepts such as singing, rhythm, recognition, interpretation, movement, and dance;
  • assisting teachers in lower grades with music as directed by Program Directors and managers;
  • planning and directing music for the annual Christmas Sing and Spring Program;
  • protecting the safety and well-being of Challenger students; and
  • using effective classroom behavior management in accordance with Challenger philosophy.

Music teachers are required to:

  • have 2 years of college education or equivalent experience in music, voice, and/or piano;
  • be a proficient piano player and have experience with voice delivery techniques;
  • have a friendly and confident demeanor and be able to work patiently with students, and co-workers;
  • possess a strong work ethic and a desire to support Challenger's curriculum and methods;
  • attend all training opportunities and marketing events to learn and assist as directed;
  • have excellent attendance to maintain continuity of the classroom during the school year; and
  • understand and embrace the values of the original United States Constitution.
